    Description

This is a linear stepper motor with a thru bore lead screw.  There's no need to attach this motor to an external lead screw in order to
produce linear movement.  The lead nut is part of the motor itself so when the motor turns the screw goes in and out.  The lead screw that comes with the motor is about 10" long, but you can purchase a 3 - 6ft long piece from McMaster-Carr for under .  The lead is 3/8 - 8 with four starts so it moves fast.  The shaft needs to be anchored
    (kept from revolving)
to the device you want to push or pull.  This motor can be powered by any current controlled stepper driver (sometimes called chopper drives). Either low current hobby size stepper amplifiers that are available on eBay and other sources or it can be powered from a large chassis mounted driver, so driving it is easy.  Using a chopper drive you can run it on just about any voltage you want - from 4VDC up to 40VDC and up to 2 Amps.
The graph above shows the performance characteristics of this motor (the lead screw provided is in blue) - it is both fast and strong with the given lead screw.  It will push 50 Lbs and hold 165 Lbs.
You can also replace the lead-nut (the black part that protrudes from the motor) with a lead-nut of your own - the motor attachment thread is 1/2-28.  You can use any matching lead screw less then 10mm in diameter.
These retail for ~0 so my price with free shipping is a great deal.
CAD drawings and more are available from the US Automation web site they are called versadrives - just google US automation.
